Yesterday afternoon we took a short bus ride to Chianti. We visited a vineyard named Verrazzano. It was gorgeous. We didn't arrive until almost 5pm so the light wasn't good, but it felt good to get into the countryside a little and out of the city. The owner of the vineyard gave us a tour of the wine cellars and explained the process (some of which I could understand through his thick accent). Then he gave us a wine tasting of their 3 finest wines. After the wine tasting, they gave us dinner and it was delicious. It was an authentic Italian meal, which was fun to have for the first time in Chianti on a vineyard.
The city of Florence is starting to become a little more managable. It is funny because the first day it seemed so huge and it's just getting smaller and smaller. We're starting to realize how close everything is to each other and I'm hoping to be able to know my way around pretty well soon. Classes start tomorrow so it should be interesting to see how that goes. It's Sunday today and I woke up at 10 AM to the sounds of the church bells coming from the duomo. It was pretty amazing. So, that's all my news for now. Just a lazy sunday in Florence.
